Start here: the three big fixes
Almost every "no data" problem on arrival is one of these settings.
1. Switch the travel line on. iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service → tap your travel line → Turn On This Line. Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager and switch the eSIM on. Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → travel SIM → Use SIM.
2. Turn on data roaming for the travel eSIM. Your eSIM uses local partner networks, so your phone treats it as roaming. Full steps: turn on data roaming.
3. Choose the travel eSIM for mobile data. iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service → Mobile Data. Samsung: SIM manager → Mobile data. Pixel: tap the travel SIM and turn on Mobile data.
Then restart
Turn your phone off and on again. It forces a fresh search for networks, and it fixes more problems than anything else.
Pick a network by hand
- iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service → your travel line → Network Selection → turn off Automatic → pick a network.
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Network operators → Search now.
- Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → travel SIM → turn off Automatically select network.
Try each network in the list. The plan page shows which networks your plan uses.

Does airplane mode help?
Yes. Turn airplane mode on for 10 seconds, then off, to make your phone search for networks again.
