Set the APN for your travel eSIM
Most eSIMs set the APN for you. If you have signal but no internet, enter your plan's APN: iPhone, Settings → Mobile Service → travel line → Mobile Data Network; Android, Access Point Names.
Do this now
- Ask us for your plan's APN: we reply with it fast.
- iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service → tap your travel line → Mobile Data Network → type the APN under Mobile Data.
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Access Point Names → Add → type the name and APN → Save.
- Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → tap the travel SIM → Access Point Names → + → type the name and APN → Save.
- Select the new APN, then restart your phone.
What an APN is
The APN (access point name) tells your phone how to reach the internet through a mobile network. Think of it as the address of the network's front door. On most travel eSIMs it fills in by itself the moment you connect.
When you need it
You only need to set it by hand if:
- you see signal bars and a network name, but
- websites and apps won't load, even with data roaming on.
Where to find your APN
Most eSIMs set the APN for you. If yours needs it typed in, contact us with your order number and we'll send it straight away.
iPhone
Settings → Mobile Service → your travel line → Mobile Data Network. Type the APN in the APN box under Mobile Data. Leave username and password empty unless your plan says otherwise.
Samsung Galaxy
Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Access Point Names. Tap Add, give it a name (for example "Travel"), type the APN and tap Save. Then select it.
Google Pixel
Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → your travel SIM → Access Point Names. Tap +, add a name and the APN, save and select it.
Then restart
Restart your phone and give it a minute. Still stuck? Work through our eSIM not working abroad checklist, step by step.
Do I always need to set an APN?
No. Most travel eSIMs set it automatically. Only set it if you have signal but no internet.
What do I put in username and password?
Leave them blank unless we give you a username and password with your APN.
