Dial *#06#: if you see an EID number, your phone supports eSIM. Or look in settings for “Add eSIM” (iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service; Android: Settings → Network or Connections → SIM manager).
Which iPhones support eSIM?
Every iPhone from the XS, XS Max and XR (2018) onwards, including the SE (2nd and 3rd generation). iPhones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau mostly have no eSIM: check your model.
Does my phone need to be unlocked?
Yes. A phone locked to your home network can't use another network's eSIM. Most phones bought outright are unlocked; ask your network if you're not sure.
