Delete or keep your eSIM after your trip
Turn the travel line off when you get home. Delete it only once the plan has expired and you won't top up. iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service → travel line → Delete eSIM.
Do this now
- Home again: switch your mobile data back to your home line.
- Turn the travel eSIM line off.
- Once the plan has ended and you won't top up, delete it.
- iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service → tap the travel line → Delete eSIM.
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → tap the eSIM → Remove.
- Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → tap the eSIM → Erase eSIM.
Back home: switch lines first
When you land at home, set your home line back as your mobile data line and turn data roaming back the way you like it. Then switch the travel eSIM off. It stays safely stored, ready if you need it again.
Keep it or delete it?
Keep it if your plan still has days and data left, or if you might top up for your next trip on a plan that allows it.
Delete it once the plan has ended and you won't use it again. It tidies up your settings. A deleted eSIM usually can't be installed again, so only delete when you're done.
How to delete an eSIM
- iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service → tap the travel line → Delete eSIM.
- Samsung Galaxy: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → tap the eSIM → Remove.
- Google Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → tap the eSIM → Erase eSIM.
Take care to pick the travel line, not your home line.
Changing phone?
Don't delete it yet. Read move your eSIM to a new phone first.
Next trip
Your phone can hold several eSIMs, so a new plan sits happily next to old ones. See using several eSIMs.
Can I reinstall an eSIM after deleting it?
Usually not. Only delete once the plan has ended and you won't top up.
Does an unused eSIM drain my battery?
Switch the line off and it stays stored without searching for signal.
