Travel eSIMs for families and groups

Each phone needs its own eSIM: one eSIM installs on one phone. For a family, buy one plan per phone, or buy one bigger plan and share it from a parent's phone by hotspot.

One eSIM, one phone

An eSIM installs on a single phone and stays there. So if four people each want their own data, buy four plans. Each one arrives with its own QR code and install link.

Option 1: a plan for everyone

Best when the family splits up during the day: teens off exploring, one parent at a meeting.

  • Everyone has their own data and can't run out on someone else's account.
  • Pick a smaller plan for younger children who mainly message and use maps.
  • Install every eSIM at home on Wi-Fi, one phone at a time.

Option 2: one big plan, shared

Best when you stay together all day.

  • Buy one larger plan for a parent's phone.
  • Turn on Personal Hotspot (iPhone) or Mobile Hotspot (Android) and let the kids' phones and tablets join. See hotspot and tethering.
  • Hotspot works where the phone and network allow: the plan page shows it.

How much data for a family?

Video and streaming eat data fastest. Our guide on how much data you need helps you size each plan, and on plans that allow it you can top up any time.

Tips for parents

  • Label each eSIM with the child's name when you install it, so you know which is which.
  • Save each eSIM email in one folder so you can check usage for everyone.
Can I share one eSIM between two phones?

An eSIM installs on one phone only, but that phone can share its data with others by hotspot.

Can children use a travel eSIM?

Yes. Any eSIM phone works, whoever uses it. Install it for them at home on Wi-Fi.
