Calls and texts with a data-only travel eSIM

Our travel eSIMs are data only, with no new phone number. Call and message over data with WhatsApp, FaceTime, Messenger, Teams or Zoom, and keep your home line on for normal texts.

Data only, by design

Each travel eSIM gives you mobile data, with no new phone number. That keeps things simple: no new number to share, no surprise call charges, and your own number stays yours.

Call and text over data

Every app that calls over the internet works on your travel eSIM:

  • WhatsApp: voice calls, video calls and messages.
  • FaceTime and iMessage: on iPhone, with your usual number or Apple ID.
  • Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, Signal: calls and chats.
  • Teams, Zoom, Google Meet: work calls on the go.

Calls over data use about 0.5 to 1 MB a minute for voice and more for video, so a few calls a day barely touch your plan. Our guide on how much data you need has the numbers.

Normal texts and calls to your number

Keep your home line switched on and texts still reach you on your usual number, including bank codes. Calls you take on your home line are charged by your home network, so check their roaming prices. To keep things free, ask people to call you on WhatsApp or FaceTime.

Booking a table or calling a taxi?

Message them on WhatsApp: restaurants, hotels and drivers in many countries take bookings that way. Or book through their app or website on your eSIM data.

Do I get a phone number with my eSIM?

No. Our travel eSIMs are data only. You keep your own number on your home line.

Do WhatsApp calls work on a travel eSIM?

Yes. WhatsApp voice and video calls work over your eSIM data, just like on Wi-Fi.
