Samsung eSIM not working? Fix it step by step
Can't add an eSIM on Android? Restart and join strong Wi-Fi first. Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM. Still stuck? Type the SM-DP+ address and activation code instead.
Do this now
- Join strong Wi-Fi, then restart your phone.
- Update your software: Samsung, Settings → Software update; Pixel, Settings → System → Software updates.
- Check SIM manager (Samsung) or SIMs (Pixel); the eSIM may already be there.
- Avoid deleting and retrying, because each code installs once.
- Type the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your eSIM page instead of scanning.
- Check the phone is unlocked before you try again.
- Contact us with your order number and phone model if it still fails.
Why is my Samsung eSIM not working on Android?
The install usually stops part way. Join strong Wi-Fi and restart your phone first. You may see "Couldn't add eSIM" or "Unable to add mobile plan", and the same fixes apply.
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM → Scan QR code from service provider
- Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM → Set up an eSIM

Should I delete the eSIM and try again?
No. Each code installs once, so don't delete and retry. Update your software first, then scan again.

Can I type the code in instead of scanning?
Yes. Your eSIM page shows the SM-DP+ address and activation code. Type them in instead of scanning. This works on Android and any phone. If the QR code won't scan at all, read eSIM QR code not working.

Does my phone support an eSIM at all?
Some models sold in some countries have no eSIM. Dial *#06# and look for an EID. Your phone must also be unlocked. Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, and Google Pixel 3 and later, are supported. For more, read SIM not supported.

Can I get a refund if my eSIM won't install?
Yes, if the eSIM was never installed. You can cancel within 30 days of buying for a full refund, money back to your card.
Does installing at home start my plan?
Installing at home doesn't start the clock on most plans. Most start when the eSIM first connects to a supported network abroad. A few start on install, and the plan page says which.
Do I still get calls and texts on the eSIM?
No. The travel eSIM is data only, with no phone number and no calls or texts. Use WhatsApp or FaceTime to call, and keep your home SIM in the phone so texts still arrive.
