Cellular plan cannot be added on iPhone? Fix it fast
Connect to strong Wi-Fi, turn airplane mode on and off, then restart your iPhone. If the travel line is listed under Settings → Mobile Service, it has already installed. Don't delete and rescan.
Do this now
- Connect to strong Wi-Fi, then try the install again.
- Open Control Centre and turn airplane mode on, then off.
- Restart your iPhone.
- Open Settings → Mobile Service. If your travel line is listed, it has installed.
- Update iOS in Settings → General → Software Update.
- Check Settings → General → About: Network Provider Lock should say No SIM restrictions.

What causes the cellular plan error on iPhone?
Usually the phone could not reach the internet during install, or the code was already used on this phone. On UK iPhones the message may read Mobile Plan Cannot Be Added. It's usually a quick fix.
- No internet: weak or no Wi-Fi during install.
- Network lock: the phone is locked to a network.
- Already installed: each code installs once.
- Old iOS: the phone needs an update.
What should I try first on iPhone?
Start with Wi-Fi, airplane mode and a restart. Many install problems clear up this way.
- Wi-Fi: join a strong network, then try the install again.
- Airplane mode: open Control Centre from the top-right corner, then turn airplane mode on and off.
- Restart: switch your iPhone off and on again.

Should I delete the eSIM and scan again?
No. Each code installs once. Scanning it again can show This code is no longer valid, so keep the eSIM and work through the fixes above.
Other ways to install on iPhone
On iOS 17.4 and later, your eSIM page has an Install on this iPhone link. If your QR code won't scan, read QR code not working, or go to Settings → Mobile Service → Add eSIM → Enter Details Manually.
What to do if it still fails
