Which Philippines eSIM plan do I need?

Your trip length and how much you use your phone decide which plan fits, so start with the days you'll be there.

  • A city break in Manila: For three days of maps, messages and Grab rides, choose 1 GB a day for 3 days.
  • A fortnight touring Cebu, Boracay and Palawan: For two weeks of messages, maps and some video, choose 10 GB for 30 days.
  • A long stay in Siargao: For a month of Messenger, Viber and some music or video, choose 20 GB for 30 days.
  • A trip that also takes in a neighbour: The South East Asia bundle covers 8 countries, the Philippines among them, so it suits a route that goes further.

Most plans can be topped up, so you can add data if your trip runs longer. See how to top up your eSIM.

Good to know

  • Data only: your own number keeps working for calls and texts
  • Hotspot works where your phone and the network allow it
  • Plans start when you first connect; install within 180 days
  • Your data routes through Singapore, so some sites may show that country
  • Top up the same eSIM any time, no new QR code

Will my eSIM have signal in the Philippines?

Your eSIM joins Globe and SMART, and your phone picks between them by itself, so you never choose one by hand. Where 5G is available, your eSIM can use it. Cities and main towns are well covered, including Manila, Cebu and Boracay. Signal can be patchy on remote islands and in the mountains, so if you are heading to Palawan or Siargao, download offline maps first.

Your data reaches the internet through Singapore, a normal setup for travel eSIMs. If a site guesses you are in Singapore, the IP address guide explains why. On daily plans, speeds slow to 512 Kbps once you have used that day's allowance.

Install in two minutes

How to set up your Philippines eSIM

  1. Install at home

On Wi-Fi, tap Install on iPhone (iOS 17.4+), scan the QR code, or type the two codes from your email.

  2. Switch on when you land

Turn on your eSIM line, choose it for mobile data and switch Data Roaming on for that line.

  3. You're online

Your phone joins Globe and your plan starts. Check data left on your eSIM page.

Using your phone in the Philippines: data tips

  • Arriving: Install your eSIM at home on Wi-Fi, then switch it on when you land at Ninoy Aquino (MNL), Mactan-Cebu (CEB) or Clark (CRK). Your eSIM uses Globe or SMART networks. Keep data roaming on for the eSIM line, and here is how to switch it on.
  • Getting around: Download Grab, the local ride app, before you fly, and sign in on Wi-Fi. Then a ride is ready when you land in Manila or Cebu.
  • Staying in touch: Message friends on Messenger or Viber, and send photos as you go. Your home number stays on for calls and texts, so people at home can still reach you. You can keep WhatsApp too.
  • Fair use: Once your daily allowance is used up, speeds drop to 512 Kbps. Most plans can be topped up if you need more. Keep big downloads for Wi-Fi where you can.

How much is an eSIM for the Philippines?

Philippines eSIMs start at £3.99 for 100 MB over 7 days. A 5 GB plan for 30 days costs £8.99. Prices include any taxes and show in pounds, euros or dollars.

Which networks does the Philippines eSIM use?

Your eSIM connects to Globe and SMART in the Philippines, with 5G where the network has it. Your phone picks the strongest signal automatically.

When does my Philippines eSIM start?

Can I top up my Philippines eSIM?

Yes. Most Philippines plans can be topped up from your eSIM page in two taps, with no new QR code. The plan table on this page shows which ones.

Why does my IP address show another country?

Philippines plans route your data through Singapore, a normal setup for travel eSIMs. Websites and apps may show that country's content; your speed and coverage in the Philippines are not affected.

Does it come with a phone number?

Every eSIMology plan is data only. Keep your own SIM switched on for calls and texts, and use WhatsApp, FaceTime or any calling app over your eSIM's data.

Cancel an eSIM you haven't installed within 30 days for a full refund to your card, in two taps from your eSIM page.

Does Grab work with an eSIM in the Philippines?

Can I use Messenger and Viber in the Philippines with an eSIM?

Messenger and Viber are the messaging apps used locally in the Philippines, so they're the ones to have installed before you fly. Your eSIM's mobile data carries the messages, and a quick chat with your host can settle where to meet.
