Which eSIM do I need for a trip from Spain?
Your home plan already works across the EU at no extra charge, within a fair-use data limit. The UK and Switzerland are not covered by that rule. For those places, and for heavy data use, a travel eSIM gives you your own plan, including eSIMology's daily allowances and bigger fixed plans.
- France, Italy and Portugal: eSIMology's Europe plans run on Orange in France, Iliad, TIM and Wind in Italy, and NOS and Vodafone in Portugal, with 5G where the network offers it.
- United Kingdom: eSIMology's UK plans run on 3 and EE, with 5G where the network offers it.
- Germany and the United States: eSIMology's plans run on O2 and Vodafone in Germany, and on AT&T and Verizon in the United States, with 5G where the network offers it.
What do Spain networks charge to roam?
Your home plan works abroad at no extra charge across the EU, plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Ukraine and Moldova. That's EU roam-like-at-home, within a fair-use data limit. Outside it, these carriers charge extra. Prices read on 7 November 2026:
- Movistar: EUR 6.05 per day in Switzerland or the USA, for 500 MB per day, charged only on days you use data.
- Vodafone ES: no extra cost in the UK or Switzerland within your plan's GB limit on current tariffs. In the USA, EUR 3 per day gives 3 GB, plus unlimited calls to the USA and Spain. SMS is not included.
- Orange ES: EUR 25 for 7 days in Switzerland or the USA, for 25 GB.
Movistar counts the UK as part of its EU/Zone 1 roaming, within a monthly GB limit. The UK and Switzerland aren't covered by the EU rules.

Travelling from Spain: questions
Where do Spanish travellers go most?
France, Italy, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, the Netherlands, Belgium, Romania and Ireland, in that order, according to Eurostat tour_dem_ttw (trips by residents of Spain by country of destination, 1+ night; INE Encuesta de Turismo de Residentes data).
How much does roaming cost from Spain?
Movistar €6.05 a day (Switzerland); Vodafone ES €0 a day (UK and Switzerland); Orange ES €25 for 7 days (Switzerland), from each carrier's own page, read 7 November 2026. A 5 GB, 30-day France eSIM costs €7.99 for the whole trip.
Can I keep my Spanish number with a travel eSIM?
Yes. A travel eSIM from eSIMology is data only: keep your home SIM switched on for calls and texts (your carrier's own rates apply to those), and use WhatsApp, FaceTime or any calling app over the eSIM's data.
Which currency do I pay in?
Pounds, euros or US dollars: pick yours at the top of any page. This guide shows euros.
Do I need an eSIM for a trip from Spain to France?
Not always. EU roam-like-at-home lets your home plan work in France at no extra charge, within a fair-use data limit. An eSIM suits you when you want more data than that, or a separate plan for the trip. eSIMology's plans run on Orange in France, with 5G where the network offers it.
Is roaming included on Movistar in the UK?
Yes, within a limit. Movistar counts the UK as part of its EU and Zone 1 roaming, so your national plan applies, up to the monthly GB limit set by your plan. Vodafone Spain's Zona 7, which includes the UK, adds no extra cost within your plan's GB limit on current tariffs.
Do I need an eSIM for a trip from Spain to the United States?
An eSIM is worth considering. EU roaming rules don't cover the USA, so it's priced separately. Movistar and Vodafone ES charge by the day, and Orange ES sells a 7-day pass. eSIMology's plans run on AT&T and Verizon, with 5G where the network offers it. Heavy users should look at eSIMology's daily allowances and bigger fixed plans.
