Good to know

  • Data only: your own number keeps working for calls and texts
  • Hotspot works where your phone and the network allow it
  • Plans start when you first connect; install within 180 days
  • Your data routes through United Kingdom, so some sites may show that country
  • Top up the same eSIM any time, no new QR code

Will my eSIM have signal in Nigeria?

Your eSIM connects to Glo, and it runs on 4G. Your phone picks Glo up by itself once you land, so there's no network to choose. Big cities such as Lagos and Abuja are well covered, but signal is patchier in rural areas, so keep that in mind if you're heading out of town.

Your data reaches the internet through the United Kingdom, a normal setup for travel eSIMs. You can read more in how your IP address works. Daily plans slow to a lower speed once you've used that day's allowance.

Install in two minutes

How to set up your Nigeria eSIM

  1. Install at home

On Wi-Fi, tap Install on iPhone (iOS 17.4+), scan the QR code, or type the two codes from your email.

  2. Switch on when you land

Turn on your eSIM line, choose it for mobile data and switch Data Roaming on for that line.

  3. You're online

Your phone joins Glo and your plan starts. Check data left on your eSIM page.

Using your phone in Nigeria: data tips for arrival

  • Arriving: Install your eSIM at home on Wi-Fi before you fly. Once you land at Murtala Muhammed (LOS), Nnamdi Azikiwe (ABV) or Port Harcourt (PHC), switch the eSIM line on and keep data roaming on for it. The data roaming guide shows you how.
  • Getting around: Download Uber, Bolt or inDrive before you land, so a ride is ready the moment you leave the arrivals hall.
  • Staying in touch: WhatsApp is the messaging app to set up first. Your home number stays on for calls and texts, and the WhatsApp and home number guide explains how to keep both. Messages and photos use your eSIM data, so keep an eye on your plan.
  • Your network: Your eSIM runs on Glo's 4G network. Most plans can be topped up, so you can add more data mid-trip if you need it.
