Which networks will my eSIM use in the Dominican Republic?
Your eSIM joins Altice, a 4G network, so there's just one network to know about. Your phone picks Altice on its own, with nothing to switch on or choose. WhatsApp messages, maps and rides with Uber or inDrive all run over it. Resorts, cities and main roads are well covered; signal can be weaker in the mountains and remote areas.
Your data reaches the internet through Singapore, a normal setup for travel eSIMs. The IP address help page explains what that means for you. Daily plans slow to 512 Kbps once you've used the day's allowance.
How much data do you need in the Dominican Republic?
Light: maps, messages, email (about 0.25 GB a day). Standard: plus social, music, some video (about 0.7 GB a day). Heavy: plus streaming, video calls, hotspot (about 1.8 GB a day).

Using your eSIM in the Dominican Republic: airports, rides and WhatsApp
Arriving: Install your eSIM at home on Wi-Fi. Then, when you land at Las Américas (SDQ), Punta Cana (PUJ) or Gregorio Luperón (POP), switch it on and turn on data roaming for that line using the data roaming steps.
Network: Altice is the network your eSIM uses, and it runs on 4G, not 5G.
Getting around: Download Uber and inDrive at home on Wi-Fi, so your first ride is sorted before you land. Both are ride apps you can use once your data is on.
Staying in touch: Message friends and family on WhatsApp over your eSIM data, while your home number stays on for calls and texts. The WhatsApp and home number guide walks you through the setup.
Topping up: Most plans can be topped up, so if the trip runs long you can add more data without buying another plan.
