Good to know

  • Data only: your own number keeps working for calls and texts
  • Hotspot works where your phone and the network allow it
  • Plans start when you first connect; install within 180 days
  • Your data routes through United Kingdom, so some sites may show that country
  • Top up the same eSIM any time, no new QR code

Which Kuwait networks will my eSIM use?

Kuwait's networks are Ooredoo, STC and Zain, and your eSIM joins all three. Your phone picks between them by itself, so you don't need to switch or search. Your eSIM can connect over 5G, so keep 5G switched on in your phone's settings. Messages on WhatsApp and rides on Careem both run over your eSIM's data.

Your data reaches the internet through a United Kingdom IP address, which is a normal setup for travel eSIMs. You can read more on the IP address help page. Daily plans slow to the fair use speed once you've used the day's allowance.

How to set up your Kuwait eSIM

  1. Install at home

On Wi-Fi, tap Install on iPhone (iOS 17.4+), scan the QR code, or type the two codes from your email.

  2. Switch on when you land

  3. You're online

Using your phone in Kuwait: data tips

  • Arriving: Install your eSIM at home on Wi-Fi first. Then switch it on as you land at Kuwait International (KWI), and keep data roaming on for the eSIM line. Turn on data roaming shows you where.
  • Getting around: Download Careem before you head out in Kuwait City or Salmiya. You can book a ride from your phone in a few taps, and it runs on your eSIM data.
  • Staying in touch: Message friends and family on WhatsApp, and keep your home number for calls and texts. Keep WhatsApp and your home number shows you how to set both up.
  • Daily limits: Once you've used your daily allowance, speeds drop to 512 Kbps, so plan your heavier days. Light use, like maps and messages, goes a long way on a daily plan.
  • Networks: Ooredoo, STC and Zain are the mobile networks your eSIM can use in Kuwait.

How much is an eSIM for Kuwait?

Kuwait eSIMs start at £3.99 for 100 MB over 7 days. A 5 GB plan for 30 days costs £14.99. Prices include any taxes and show in pounds, euros or dollars.

Which networks does the Kuwait eSIM use?

Your eSIM connects to Ooredoo, STC and Zain in Kuwait, with 5G where the network has it. Your phone picks the strongest signal automatically.

When does my Kuwait eSIM start?

Most plans start the moment your eSIM first connects to a network in Kuwait, so you can buy and install it at home before you fly. Install it within 180 days of buying.

Can I top up my Kuwait eSIM?

Yes. Most Kuwait plans can be topped up from your eSIM page in two taps, with no new QR code. The plan table on this page shows which ones.

Why does my IP address show another country?

Kuwait plans route your data through United Kingdom, a normal setup for travel eSIMs. Websites and apps may show that country's content; your speed and coverage in Kuwait are not affected.

Does it come with a phone number?

Every eSIMology plan is data only. Keep your own SIM switched on for calls and texts, and use WhatsApp, FaceTime or any calling app over your eSIM's data.

What if my plans change?

Cancel an eSIM you haven't installed within 30 days for a full refund to your card, in two taps from your eSIM page.

Is there 5G in Kuwait?

Yes. Kuwait has 5G, and your eSIM can use Ooredoo, STC or Zain. To get it, your phone needs 5G support, so check your model before you pack.

How much data do I need for a week in Kuwait?

For a week of maps, messages and email, about 1.8 GB is enough. For social media, music and some video, plan on about 4.9 GB. Streaming or hotspot use pushes a week to about 12.6 GB.

Which eSIM covers Kuwait and nearby countries?

The Middle East, GCC Countries and Gulf Region bundles all cover Kuwait. Choose the one that matches where else you're heading, and check the country list before you buy.

Does Careem work with an eSIM in Kuwait?

Yes. Careem books rides through its app, so it needs mobile data. Your eSIM gives you that, so you can order from Kuwait International (KWI) or in Salmiya without a local SIM.

Can I use WhatsApp in Kuwait?

Yes. WhatsApp messages, photos and voice notes run on your eSIM's mobile data, so you can keep in touch with home while you explore Kuwait City, Salmiya and Failaka Island.

Will my data slow down in Kuwait?

Yes, once you use up a day's allowance. Speeds then drop to 512 Kbps, which is still enough for messages and maps.
