In Armenia, match your plan to your days and how you use your phone.

  • A three-day city break in Yerevan: for maps, messages and Yandex Go rides, 1 GB for 7 days covers light use.
  • A fortnight touring Yerevan, Gyumri and Sevan: 10 GB for 30 days suits two weeks of social media, music and some video.

Most plans can be topped up, and the longest plan runs for 30 days.

Good to know

  • Data only: your own number keeps working for calls and texts
  • Hotspot works where your phone and the network allow it
  • Plans start when you first connect; install within 180 days
  • Your data routes through United Kingdom, so some sites may show that country
  • Top up the same eSIM any time, no new QR code

Will my eSIM have signal in Armenia?

Your eSIM joins Vivacell, which offers 5G in Armenia. Your phone picks it up on its own, so there's no network to choose. Cities like Yerevan and Gyumri and main roads are well covered, though signal can drop in mountain areas.

Your data reaches the internet through the United Kingdom, a normal setup for travel eSIMs; our IP address guide explains what that means. On daily plans, speed drops to 512 Kbps once you've used that day's allowance, so pick a bigger plan if you'll stream.

Using your phone in Armenia: arrival, rides and messages

  • Land and switch on: Install your eSIM at home on Wi-Fi, then switch it on as you land at Zvartnots (EVN). Turn on data roaming for the eSIM line. Your eSIM runs on Vivacell, which has 5G.
  • Getting around: Yandex Go and GG are the ride apps to use from the airport, so set both up before you fly into Yerevan.
  • Staying in touch: WhatsApp, Viber and Telegram are the messaging apps to have on your phone, so sign in to each one before you fly, while you still have Wi-Fi. Your home number stays on for calls and texts, and this guide covers WhatsApp.
  • Day trips: Most plans can be topped up, so if you need more data on a trip to Gyumri, Dilijan, Vagharshapat or Sevan, top up without buying a new eSIM.
