## Which Honduras eSIM plan do I need?

Match the plan to your trip length and how you plan to use your phone.

- **A week in Roatán, mostly maps and WhatsApp:** 3 GB for 15 days. That is enough for light use, about 1.8 GB in all.
- **A fortnight touring Honduras, with social media, music and some video:** 10 GB for 30 days, about 9.8 GB in all for standard use.
- **A week of work in San Pedro Sula, with heavy use:** 2 GB a day for 7 days, which covers streaming and a laptop on hotspot.
- **A trip that also takes in a neighbour:** use the [South America bundle](/esim/south-america), which covers more than one country on one eSIM.

Most plans can be topped up, and the longest plan lasts 30 days.

## Will my eSIM have signal in Honduras?

Your eSIM joins Claro in Honduras, and your phone picks it up by itself, so there's nothing to set up once you're there. Claro runs on 4G, so that's the connection you'll see on screen. Use WhatsApp to message and Uber to get around, both on the same data.

Your data reaches the internet through Belgium, a normal setup for travel eSIMs. Our [IP address guide](/help/ip-address-another-country) explains what that means for the sites and apps you use. Daily plans slow to 512 Kbps once that day's allowance is used up.

## Using your phone in Honduras: data tips

**Arriving:** Install your eSIM at home on Wi-Fi first. Then land at Ramón Villeda Morales (SAP), Toncontín (TGU) or Juan Manuel Gálvez (RTB), switch it on, and [turn on data roaming](/help/turn-on-data-roaming) for the eSIM line.

**Getting around:** Uber is the local ride app, so download it before you leave home and sign in while you're on Wi-Fi.

**Staying in touch:** WhatsApp is the messaging app to set up before your trip. Your home number stays on for calls and texts, and this [guide to WhatsApp and your home number](/help/keep-whatsapp-and-home-number) explains the set-up.

**Data:** Your eSIM runs on Claro's 4G. After your daily allowance, speeds drop to 512 Kbps, so heavy streaming uses up a day's data quickly.

**Top-ups:** Most plans can be topped up, so you can add more data mid-trip without buying a new eSIM.

## Questions

### How much is an eSIM for Honduras?

Honduras eSIMs start at £3.99 for 100 MB over 7 days. A 5 GB plan for 30 days costs £16.99. Prices include any taxes and show in pounds, euros or dollars.

### Which networks does the Honduras eSIM use?

Your eSIM connects to Claro in Honduras. Your phone picks the strongest signal automatically.

### When does my Honduras eSIM start?

Most plans start the moment your eSIM first connects to a network in Honduras, so you can buy and install it at home before you fly. Install it within 180 days of buying.

### Can I top up my Honduras eSIM?

Yes. Most Honduras plans can be topped up from your eSIM page in two taps, with no new QR code. The plan table on this page shows which ones.

### Why does my IP address show another country?

Honduras plans route your data through Belgium, a normal setup for travel eSIMs. Websites and apps may show that country's content; your speed and coverage in Honduras are not affected.

### Does it come with a phone number?

Every eSIMology plan is data only. Keep your own SIM switched on for calls and texts, and use WhatsApp, FaceTime or any calling app over your eSIM's data.

### What if my plans change?

Cancel an eSIM you haven't installed within 30 days for a full refund to your card, in two taps from your eSIM page.

### Does Uber work with an eSIM in Honduras?

Uber is the ride app to have ready in Honduras, and your eSIM's data is what loads the map and finds your driver. Download it and sign in at home, so your first ride from Ramón Villeda Morales (SAP) is simple.

### Is there 5G in Honduras?

No. Honduras runs on 4G through Claro, so you won't see 5G here. Your phone only needs eSIM support to use it, with no 5G needed.

### How much data do I need for a week in Honduras?

For a week of maps, messages and email, about 1.8 GB is the typical figure. Add social media, music and some video and it rises to about 4.9 GB, while heavy streaming takes around 12.6 GB.

### Can I use WhatsApp in Honduras with an eSIM?

Yes. WhatsApp is the messaging app to have ready in Honduras, and your eSIM's data carries it like any other app. Check it's logged in and updated before you fly, so you can message your hotel or driver without any fuss.

### Which eSIM covers Honduras and other countries too?

Honduras is included in a South America bundle covering 20 countries, and in two Global bundles covering 117 and 127 countries. If you're heading elsewhere too, pick the bundle that covers every stop on your route.

### Which airports in Honduras should I know about?

Ramón Villeda Morales (SAP), Toncontín (TGU) and Juan Manuel Gálvez (RTB) are the airports to know. Install your eSIM before you fly, so you're not hunting for a QR code at arrivals.
